| MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR DEVELOPMENT TOOLS |
We see MS Flight Simulator, together with software development
array, as highly promissing simulation, as already highly educational
mean, as testbed for many purposes and means, and perfect reason for
user to learn more. |
|
| MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2002, 2004 |
The most common delusion about MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR is
considering that software as a game. We saw nothing of a game neither
in use of this software, nor in this software development. Anyone can
use anything in purpose of game only. But that is choice of user, not in |
 |
any case matter of software by
itself. The environment of FS, if
you take it seriously, not just as a
game, beside flight training force
you to learn mathematics, phy-
sics, meteorology, geomorpho-
logy, aerospace engineering,
traffic engineering, multiple soft-
ware and programing language
use and lots of other fields of
knowledge to the very respecta-
ble level. |
We use this software environment to quick-test 3D design in places
where it is suposed to be, just creating the place on globe and arranging
natural conditions there. The result is very quickly tested and presented
dynamic simulation of your work in very unusual, but atractive way. Also
we use MSFS and development tools as set of teaching aids set for vari-
ety of disciplines. We will not comment all of software, that is part of this
environment, that is quite different story and some future web site. Just
to say, if you want to hook someone to learn and to be creative just "in-
fect" her or him with FS development. |

| GMAX 1.2 |
As a 3dsMax younger brother, this software is, with exception of some
tool, rendering for instance, just like the elder one. Pretty the same tools
and work procedures, but quite different goal. |
 |
Powerful simulation develop-
ment software, both for creation
dynamic or static models, with
array of plugins, wide open to file
import and export abilities, with
one serious exception: The files
created in gmax can not be di-
rectly transfered to 3dsMax.
Still there are some unknown
areas of scenery development
using this software, but so it is.
Anyway promissing tool, particu- |
larly after quick Microsoft orientation to XML supported all-to-model-
format new policy. |

| EASY OBJECT DESIGNER - EOD 2.2.84 |
Easy as the title says, software made by Matthias Brückner, is in fact
small CAD oriented scasm code assembler with most user friendly |
 |
behaviour we saw. We used this
software to create some number
of static scenery addons, still
available at www.avsim.com and
some other sites.
Unfortunately, mentioned new
orientation of Microsoft could
make this great software obso-
lete, unless Matthias return to
trenches.
EOD is still downloadable at

| FLIGHT SIMULATOR SCENERY CREATOR - FSSC 1.5.11 |
Almost the same story from above. Another genius, this time it is
Derek Leung, who made simple, friendly, precise software, whose |
 |
existence triggered us to start
developing MSFS.
Also about future of this softwa-
re, the autumn of SCASM use for
scenery creation, this software is
in jeopardy to become obsolete.
Derek says that he has other job
to do, but to further develop
FSSC. Great missfortune for this
community.
FSSC is still downloadable at

| FSDEM 1.1 |
Yet another genius, named Emerson de Oliveira from Brazil, made
simple but essntial tool to create and fix the terrain mesh, simply using |
 |
DEM files, and after some
corrections, to export them
directly to MSFS, with excellent
results. If used with Ground 2k4
as aftermate, one can change the
virtual Earth. |
